Boy sorted out
Along with good friends, Boy finished their Oslo tour yesterday at Hausmania. Center of the Universe was a perfect start of a lovely night in rough and charming surroundings. Jorgen had expanded his band to four musicians, and served quirky and wonderful Arabic and Balkaninspired elektronica. Truly inspired it was. Lukestar exhibited their showmanship and love for powerful music and good melodies to both devoted and new fans. As last band out, Boy delivered their goods with convincement and flirted with mind and body. "Rock Party" closed a perfect night, highlighted by the best musicianship Oslo has to show. Big thank-you's goes out to the other bands, dj's and technicians that has worked with the band the last week, and that we hope we soon will see again. We love you!

A New Year A New Year, and with spring coming, dbut rises to the occasion. The last
year has been busy, even though we've kept a low profile. But there are
lots to come; four releases this spring, and more waiting this fall to
come. You'll meet old friends and newcomers along sides; all with the
qualities, talents and originality dbut is searching for.
First out are the newcomers Flying Edward. They release
their magical sounding debut album, "Spell Your Name", 8th of
March. Consisting of two very different musicians gathered around an ancient
rythmbox, cabaret like melodies along with strange and dreamlike lyrics
began to appear. We were struck by their songs' beauty and awareness,
and celebrated their signing with cognac, cigars and 78´s.
New German live date for Sternklang
Sternklang is set to play the Brainclub in Braunschweig in Germany on

Export Norway, dBut will also be represented by one of Norway's prime
electronica ambassadors: none other than Mr. Brøndbo himself ?
Sternklang. The event in question is the Way out North scene which also
features such acclaimed acts as Slowpho, Frost and Salvatore. Sternklang
& co. will hit the stage on the night of August 15 at the MTC
Club in Zülpicher Strasse 10. Directions can be found here.
Questions can also be directed to European tour dates ready Finally, the tour dates for the updoming dBut/Planet Noise tour are now confirmed. Early June will see Sternklang, Perculator and Bermuda Triangle off on a tour that will take them to Austria, Switzerland and Germany. The list: As some of you might remember, dBut went on a similar tour last year
(accompanied by Palace of Pleasure and Moon Orchestra) which was hugely
successful. The demand for the return of dBut’s acts was so strong
it prompted a new tour and this time dBut has teamed up with one of Norway’s
most vital labels/artist pools: Planet
Noise. Two new Tamburin releases dBut’s vinyl sub-label Tamburin has earned us a slew of new friends around the globe. We’re proud to announce two brand new titles in this successful series of high-quality vinyl: Kalle, Magnus & Daniel’s Sang for Chun Li/Stakar Arthur and Vildensky’s Ainda. Kalle, Magnus & Daniel’s Sang for Chun Li/Stakar Arthur: Sang for Chun Li creates associations to vintage electro and conjures up images of early 80s New York sounds – think Masters at Work, their earliest works. The tune is propelled by a hypnotic octave-bass line that’s so infectious it carries the whole track. It’s simple, captivating and as effective as it gets. Stakar Arthur maintains momentum and brings on the trademark hypnosis that characterise all Kalle, Mangus & Daniel tunes. While Chun Li draws on electro, Stakar Arthur is more of a tribal nature. A drifting and transient vocal line contributes to the track’s hovering appearance. Stakar Arthur is pushed forward by a deep bass drum and layered percussion. Once the tune starts moving it’s as if it’ll never stop. Catalog number: Tamburin 4 Click here to listen to streaming audio, legally download the tunes or order the release. Vildensky: Ainda Ainda contains remnants of a long-gone Latin track, but courtesy of Vildensky’s manipulations and contortions this tune now appears as a strolling and slightly stoned excursion through electronica’s more remote areas. Vildensky’s reputation is increasing and a growing number of Norway’s most central DJs have started to playlist his twisted tunes. Catalog number: Tamburito 1 Click here to listen to streaming audio, legally download the tunes or order the release. Sternklang update
Sternklang's latest album "My Time Is Yours" was well received
in Japan earlier this year. So well received that Japanese label Ramling
Records (http://www.rambling.ne.jp/) has licenced a new version of the
record. The new release has been titled "White nights, bright days"
and is set for release October 2. hilde@atomicagency.no A new European tour early next year is in the planning. I the meantime,
Sternklang will play selected club gigs around Europe. We'll come back
with the dates as soon as they're confirmed. New Moon Orchestra Album!
Yeah we know - it's been a long time since the last update. Good thing then that the news we have are excellent. Jon Platou Selvig (of Peculator and Salvatore fame) has finally twisted the last knobs and edited the very last loops. His debut album "You'll know when you get there" is scheduled for release October 14. Jon is no stranger to neverending studio sessions. As a key member of bands Salvatore and Perculator he has proved to be invaluable in defining the two diverse group's sound. Now he is here with a sound of his own, one where distinct Scandinavian aesthetics meet the rhytmic and melodic flavours of say Cuba, downtown New York, Berlin, Chicago and Paris. Jon has done his homework and knows his classic jazz, funk, latin and hip-hop. Couple this with a strong understanding of Chicago's post-rock scene (courtesy of Salvatores sessions with Tortoise's John McIntyre) and you have a truly unique sound. It's tempting to start a massive namedropping session, as this vibrant release could be compared to the best that's being released. We'll cut the list short and claim that Moon Orchestra moves in the same directions as such diverse artists as DJ Shadow, Jazzanova and Tortoise. It sure sounds pretentious, but in this case we feel we have the right to boast. With ease and style, Moon Orchestra manages to move through a set of tunes that vary greatly in tempo and genre. "You'll know when you get there" showcases styles such diverse as glitchy electronica, hip-moving latin-house, hypnotic post-rock and cut n' paste broken beats. The tempos range from understated downtempo to outbursts of 120 bpm club-jazz stuff. It's all carefully selected, edited and mixed resulting in a esthetic and distinctly Scandinavian affair. Experience the best to come out of Scandinavia since, well Röyksopp maybe? Anyway, Norwegian electronica doesn't get any better than this. Buy it and be treated to a unique Scandinavian affair: "You'll know when you get there!" Catalogue number: NDBUT 027
